  'Seek the Kingdom First' Economics

  has anyone else's family finances been victim to the 'seek the kingdom first' economic policy?.

  for years, my husband and i have had our own business, my husband is not the most proactive guy, prefers to go in field service than to work, but he has always encouraged me to 'rely on jehovah and all these other things will be added to you', 'seek the kingdom first' etc etc.

  there have been times, such as when i was heavily pregnant and we lost a big deal, that i have been begging jehovah on hands and knees to honour that promise, wondering why he wasn't helping us.

  Wow Dubstepped, Epic post and great answers everyone. Same here, business owner. Was criticized one morning after having made time to go to the book study how I was trying to achieve financial independence, in front of the whole group. I retorted that I like to pay my bills. The look on the book study conductor ( the one who fired off the insult ) was priceless as we say ! Oh the same guy blasted me for buying a nice cnc machining center that gave us the capacity to do some special work that put our company on the map. Small mindedness, but then again nothing is too good for the GB retirement compound ! Had I of known then what I now..

  I escaped the Borg by the skin of my teeth due to the fact that I'm a workaholic and don't know any other way to be. I almost gave up and sold all at one point is the extent of the fight that was going on in my head. Common sense and medication prevailed, seriously it got that bad.

  Talking with a young elder

  i had a discussion with an elder recently.

  it was interesting in a macabre sense.

  we were outside the kingdom hall on a nice sunny day recently.

  I know a young elder we used to motocross together about 10 year5s ago. He dabbled in women and dope when in high school and his parents were glad I took an interest in him with the dirt biking and stuff. We had a pretty equal skill set so it was fun going out to the tracks with hi. He got a trade, married a babe and bought a house and moved up quickly to youngest elder in the circuit. True company man same as in team KTM, Suzuki or Yamaha. Some people just need to belong to an organization of some sort.

  a single sister in her 40s and her two single daughters were visiting my mom.

  i would say her daughters are in their early 20s.

  my mom got sleepy and we put her to bed but the three sisters stayed to finish their drinks..

  Haven't read through al the posts yet but will say this : The GB are pimps in every sense of the word as in for relationships and spiritual matters, all about appearances and control. Think I'll be ordering some Cialis.

  Notice the way he wets his whistle ? I can't handle it. GB1 had dignity at least. GB2 is composed of morons. I fell for it in 2000, they seemed legit at the time. At present their ineptitude is astonishing.

  They are Freakazoids ! Company men through and through with a product to sell.

  No way would I of 'studied' with them 15 years ago if this stuff would of been around. GB1 was somewhat believable in light of the limited info available, now 15 years later with internet GB2 looks absolutely cult like.

  Last assembly I went to this summer when the video of Lett came up everyone just seemed to be in a state of denial that something was amis. The older 80 year old friend I went with sais something to the effect that it's better to keep quiet about it when I pressed him about it.

  The shuffle walk that TOMO exhibits is a patented overweight JW walk. I've seen it up close personally many times in my former halls. studied with one.The bigger they are the more attitude and self adulation they seem to have.

  Have you ever had your oven door explode?

  the other day the glass in my oven door exploded and sent glass into the next room, fortunately i wasn't peering in at the time.

  about a year go the previous oven door shattered one morning.

  the oven was cold.

  Did that to a fire place door once, but I had overheated the thing like 7 times hehe. For real I like to stack them logs in there and get the thing read hot so that the brickwork gives off heat for a day or two after.

  Heat cycling causes stress and eventually it goes pop especially if it was improperly installed and there is some type of load or pressure on it. We get the same deal with metallurgy and often times we give our workpieces a stress relief to let parts sort themselves out after machining or other. All normal and in a good days work. Funny how in JW land we used to think all these things were supernatural phenomena.

  Also happens often on automotive glass where the body work flexes, loads the glass and on a cold morning you come outside to see one in a million pieces. Back glass often on account of defrost.

  I remember the go bag thing, was it in 2007 or so. Really really made me nervous, boy was I a chump !
